NYS DMV Plate Policy

License Plate Policy

 

New York State DMV instructions require the repossessor to notify the DMV of the repossession and submit the applicable notice and recovered license plates within 11 days of the repossession. Plates are returned within 11 days or when the repossessed vehicle leaves our lot. Whichever occurs first.
